This formula was designed by the well known herbalist Dr. Jake Fratkin of Boulder Colorado. It is designed for normalization of the reproductive system, and to replenish energy lost during labor and delivery. It is based on the popular formula Eight Treasures Pill (BA ZHEN WAN), but several herbs have been added, astragalus (HUANG QI) to tonify and raise the QI, artemisia (AI YE) to stop bleeding, crataegus (SHAN ZHA) to promote flow and discourage constipation. Also, red sage root (DAN SHEN), leonurus (YI MU CAO), and rubia (QIAN CAO GEN) are used to move blood, expel the placenta, and return the uterus to its normal state.
