Herbal First Aid, with the 'Red Pill' 

This is the version (green box) used in China. The ingredients are not listed on the box, however the version exported from China (blue box) does list the ingredients. Since the company has taken great pains to keep the original formula a secret, there is some speculation that the 2 formulations are different.

Used to stop bleeding in both human and animals. Also used as a cancer treatment for animals. Yunnan Baiyao was invented by Qu Huang Zhang in 1902. Today, in China, its reputation is said to be equal to that of penicillin. 

Note that this version contains the famous 'red pill' for severe bleeding, said to have been used by North Vietnamese soldiers to treat gunshot wounds during the Vietnamese war.

It is available in capsule form for internal use and in powdered form for topical use.

YUNNAN BAIYAO Safety and Side Effects

• In general, do not take internally for more than three or four days.
• PROHIBITED INTERNALLY DURING PREGNANCY.

How to Dose and Administer YUNNAN BAIYAO

Externally: Apply directly to bleeding wound (clean first, and bandage afterwards). In deep or wide wounds, squeeze cut together, pour powder on, and apply pressure or keep closed for 1 to 2 minutes, or until bleeding has stopped.

[Note] In case of serious wounds or bleeding, the manufacturer recommends that one takes the single red pill (Bao Xian Zi) that comes with each bottle first with wine. This is used to prevent shock from blood loss, although it does not stop bleeding. Only use one Bao Xin Zi pill per day.

Internally: Take 0.25 to 0.5 gram, 4 times a day. Do not exceed 0.5g, once every four hours.
Children age 2 to 5 years, 0.03g each time. Children over 5 years, 0.06g each time.

• In case of bleeding, mix with water and drink.
• In case of swelling without bleeding, mix with wine.
