Safety of Xiao Huo Luo Dan

  • Do not use for weak or deficient patients
  • Do not use for patients with Yin Deficiency Heat
  • Contraindicated during pregnancy. 

Xiao Huo Luo Dan Dosage and Administration

Tablets: 2 tablets, 2 times daily, or as prescribed

Granules: 2-4 grams, taken 2-3 times a day, best on an empty stomach

Whole Herbs: CAO WU should be pre-boiled to avoid any possibility of toxicity. Using a container made of ceramic, glass, or stainless steel (no aluminum, iron or copper) boil 1 packet of herbs in 1-2-quarts of water or until 2 cups of medicine remain. Strain herbs; save and refrigerate for a second boiling. Drink 1 cup in the AM. And 1 cup in the PM. If desired, repeat the following day, using the saved herbs from the refrigerator.


Modifying Xiao Huo Luo Dan 

  • For extreme damp add CANG ZHU and YI YI REN
  • For extreme Wind add QIN JIAO and FANG FENG
  • For extreme Cold increase CAO WU
  • For extreme pain increase MO YAO and RUXIANG
  • For accompanying Liver and Kidney Deficiency take with DU HUO SANG JI SHENG
