Cinnamon Minus Peony Formula
This is the Gui Zhi Tang formula with Bai Shao removed which serves to treat the Gui Zhi presentation that may have been erroneously purged, or otherwise suffered from fluid loss injuring the yang of the chest, manifesting a hasty pulse and feeling of fullness in the chest without any muscle soreness. Bai Shao is bitter and slightly cool and treats muscle aches and spasms in the abdomen and lower body, here it is removed to enhance the warming and calming effects of Gui Zhi on the predominant symptoms of chest fullness and distention without muscle soreness, as well as preventing an increase in internal coolness. This pattern usually follows chronic febrile diseases with extensive fluid loss.
