DA HUANG MU DAN TANG Uses and Indications
This is the historic formula for appendicitis.
- Constipation
- Distension of the right lower abdomen
- Pain of the right lower abdomen
- Abdominal pain which Is worse upon pressure, or while extending the right leg
DA HUANG MU DAN TANG Safety and Side Effects
- Do not use during pregnancy.
- Do not use on weak and elderly patients.
- Contraindicated for those with necrotic appendicitis.
- Contraindicated for those with appendicitis with peritonitis.
- Contraindicated for infants with appendicitis.
- Contraindicated for those with appendicitis due to parasites.

DA HUANG MU DAN SAN Granule Dosage
Powdered extract: dissolve 2-4 grams in water, drink two to three times a day
DA HUANG MU DAN TANG Boiling instructions
Whole herbs: boil 30-50 grams in 4 cups of water. Reduce to 2 cups, Drink 1/2 cup in am and 1/2 cup in PM.
DA HUANG should be added at the end of the boiling and boiled for no more than 5 minutes, and the MANG XIAO is not cooked at all. It is stirred into the heated strained decoction.
