Health Concerns' Three Immortals is an augmentation of a formula called Two Immortals which was developed in the 1950s at the Shanghai College of Traditional Chinese medicine. The intent of the Two Immortals formula was to combat high blood during menopause. This formula has been found, through clinical experience, to also relieve hot flashes and night sweats and has thus been prescribed as a general menopause tonic. Hot flashes and night sweats are normally considered signs of Kidney YIN deficiency. Since the formula also contains herbs that strengthen Kidney YANG, it has been described as tonifying the YIN within the YANG. These Kidney YANG tonics also serve to support normal libido which can decline with menopause.
Three Immortals has been altered enough so as to be considered a totally new formula whose reach and intent may be far different than the original.
