POSTPARTUM - Health Concerns
Qi and Jing Herbal Supplement
Herbs to Support Mother After Delivery
From the point of view of Traditional Chinese Medicine, childbirth results in multiple deficiencies for the mother. These losses, of Blood, and QI, YIN, and YANG, are best replenished as soon as possible. Postpartum contains a variety of tonic herbs to benefit the mother and restore energy and fluids.
Postpartum, aka PA CHEN TANG, Tonifies The Spleen, Tonifies And Vitalizes Blood, Breaks Blood Stasis, Stops Bleeding, And Supplements The JING (Essence).
This formula was designed by the well known herbalist Dr. Jake Fratkin of Boulder Colorado. It is designed for normalization of the reproductive system, and to replenish energy lost during labor and delivery. It is based on the popular formula Eight Treasures Pill (BA ZHEN WAN), but several herbs have been added, astragalus (HUANG QI) to tonify and raise the QI, artemisia (AI YE) to stop bleeding, crataegus (SHAN ZHA) to promote flow and discourage constipation. Also, red sage root (DAN SHEN), leonurus (YI MU CAO), and rubia (QIAN CAO GEN) are used to move blood, expel the placenta, and return the uterus to its normal state.
