As the low back is the domain of the Kidneys, and the sinews and joints are the domain of the Liver, people with Liver and Kidney deficiencies are subject to pain in the low back, the joints, and lower extremities. Chronic painful obstruction can also lead to deficiency because of restricted nourishment in the area. Du Huo Ji Sheng Tang is prescribed for painful obstruction in the lower body with Liver and Kidney deficiency. This can include the lower back, the knees, ankles, and feet.

DU HUO JI SHENG TANG Suggested Dosage
Tablets: (Du Huo Ji Sheng Pian): 6 tablets taken 2-3 times a day, or as prescribed
Granules: (Du Huo Ji Sheng San) 2-4 grams, taken 2-3 times a day, dissolved in liquid, best on an empty stomach, or as prescribed
Whole Herbs: (Du Huo Ji Sheng Tang) Using a container made of ceramic, glass, or stainless steel (no aluminum, iron or copper) boil 1 packet of herbs in 2-3 quarts of water for about 30 minutes, or until 2 cups of medicine remain. Strain herbs; save and refrigerate for a possible second boiling. (Good quality herbs can often be boiled a second time.) Drink 1 cup in the AM. And 1 cup in the PM. If desired, repeat the following day, using the saved herbs from the refrigerator.
DU HUO JI SHENG TANG Safety and Side Effects
Contraindicated for Damp-Heat of Hot Bi Syndrome.
Contraindicated for Bi syndrome with Yin Deficiencies.
Use cautiously during pregnancy.
