White Ginseng Vs. Red Ginseng

Both of these are Panax (Asian) ginseng. Red ginseng is made by steaming and drying fresh (white) ginseng roots. White ginseng is harvested before four years, whereas red ginseng is harvested after six years or more and is said to improve with age.

Red ginseng is said to be stronger and more stimulating than white (fresh) ginseng, so that white ginseng is sometimes used for people who are overstimulated or are diagnosed with Interior Heat

White Panax ginseng should not be confused with American ginseng (XI YANG SHEN), which has entirely different properties and uses.
