Plum Flower Healthy Brain Pill and Herbal Times Bu Nao Wan belong to a family of formulas called BU NAO WAN (Strengthen the Brain Pills.  There are numerous herbal supplements that use the name BU NAO WAN, which vary as to their ingredients, but their intention is the same.  All BU NAO WANs are used to support normal brain function and also to counter disharmony between The Heart And Kidney. In TCM, the Heart corresponds to 'fire' and is home to the SHEN (Spirit). The Kidneys correspond to water and are the repository of QI.  The Heart and Kidneys have a relationship where the Kidney (water) normally balances and cools the Heart (fire). Trauma, Kidney Deficiency, or mental stress can result in extreme Heart Fire which, in turn, causes the SHEN to be restless and not at home in the Heart.  This is called Heart and Kidney Not Communicating, and is one cause of Disturbed SHEN.  This can manifest as anxiety, restlessness, or difficulty sleeping.
